If you would like to donate a historical mining artifact or geology specimen, please contact us first. Please do not mail or ship unsolicited donation pieces to the museum.
Curatorial staff will evaluate all items offered to the museum. We follow a formal process for accepting artifacts into our collections. That way, we can be certain we have the resources and space to care for and exhibit the artifacts.
The evaluation process may take from two weeks to two months. The more information you can give us on an item’s history, the better. The background helps us determine whether the item is appropriate for our collections.
If we decide to add the item to our collections, we will send you a Deed of Gift agreement to sign and return. This document legally transfers ownership of the item to the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide appraisals. If you need a value for tax purposes, please contact a professional appraisal service.
Our operations and growth depend entirely on contributions, memberships, tickets, and gift shop sales. While we are a federally chartered non-profit, we receive no regular support from local, state, or national governmental agencies.
We welcome donations of any size. All donations are tax deductible, and all major credit cards are accepted. Please donate today!
